     Hydraulic Pumps for Tensioning Devices (2200 bar)

This document is valid for existing engine  types on order as of the date of this docu-ment:

Engine types: 

 K80ME-C, L80ME-C, S80ME-C, K90ME-C,  K90ME, L90ME-C, S90ME-C, K98ME-C, K98ME

Scope and Field of Application

This specification applies to an air driven hydraulic pump that is designed to operate hydraulic  tensioning devices for tightening of nuts on MAN  B&W engines with a tightening pressure of 2200  bar.

The pump to be used for the above purpose  must as a minimum comply with this Quality  Specification

This specification has been prepared to secure  a defined quality of the pump for operating hy-draulic tensioning devices, i.e. providing the cor-rect tensioning force in the stud to tightened

1. Design criteria 

1.1. Easy to handle It must be equipped with handles so it is easy to move around by hand and by crane. 

1.2. Weight The total weight with empty tank may not exceed 30 kg

1.3. Cabinet A solid cabinet, which is able to withstand a drop from 1 m. The pressure gauges are not included  in this test. 

2. Medium 

2.1. Oil Hydraulic oil or lubrication oil. The pump must be prepared for vegetable-oil and hydraulic oil for food and drug industry. 

2.2. Hydraulic pressure Working pressure: min 3500 bar at 7 bar air pressure. Minimum pressure range: 0-3500 bar. Automatic pressure stop: 2650 bar

2.3. Power supply Clean air. Airflow supply min.: 100 l/min at 7 bar. 

2.4. Pump capacity Min. oil tank capacity: 6 litre. 

3. Control requirement 

1. Handle for controlling the air inlet-pressure with clear on/off inscriptions. 

2. Handle for controlling the hydraulic outlet-pressure with clear on/off inscriptions. 

3. Pressure release handle with clear inscriptions.

4. Oil pressure gauge 

1. A gauge with an inscription: Oil Pressure. 

2. With the accuracy of min. 1% of max. pressure or ± 40 bar. According to Class Kl. 1.0 in DS/EN837-1. 

3. Scale area and scale graduation: 4000/50 bar. 

4. Min. pressure gauge diameter: 160 mm. 

5. Type: Manometer. Incl. vibration damper and safety glass.

5. Air pressure gauge 

1. Scale area and scale graduation: 10/1.0 bar

2. Min. pressure gauge diameter: 40 mm. 

3. Type: Manometer.

6. 7. Lifetime requirement

Min. 100 hours lifetime under normal working pressure condition.

7. 8. Connections requirement 

7.1.  Air connection: ISO 228/1-G1/2 with a ¼” reduction.

7.2.  Oil connection: ISO 228/1-G1/4 type: CEJN quick coupling 10.125.1203(female) with Working Pres-sure 2500 bar.

In the instruction, there must be found descriptions of the following points in a precise and clear  language. 

1. Description of the pump. 

2. How to use it in a safe way. 

3. Connections to the air-supply. 

4. Connections to the hydraulic jack. 

5. Procedure for checking of the automatic pressure stop valve inside the pump

6. Who to contact in case of malfunction of the pump. 

7. What to take care of and what not to do. 

8. Diagram. 

9. Spare part list.
